“Mental Surgery” reviews…..

Just before the summer, I was just looking around for new albums to fill my library. Before downloading the legal MP3 version of the album, I never heard about this band but, looking to the buzz I read around the internet, it seemed the mp3 album should be from a great debuting band. Just giving it a try.
The opening track is an instrumental song with doomy elements combined with tight rhythms, reminding me of Gojira doing Carcass. Some awesome overdubs of Sepultura included.
From song two till eight, the death metal and aggressive thrash metal release the beast in me. Melodic death metal is their main influence but they add absolutely their own elements to it. Don’t think this is another At the Gates or In Flames follower, hell no ! They do it in a convincing, determined manner with old school and modern hooks. You could even say this is the melodic version of Aborted. A little bit slower but even more venomous.
Final Bastion for example starts with intense drumming barrage propels the twin guitars and dual scream/growl vocal approach (actually throughout each track), never stopping for a breath.
On “Philosophers of doom”, the more doomy elements of old Paradise Lost and great The Absence alike sphere come above water. God Dethroned singer/guitarist Henri Sattler added his voice on this song. A great combination with singer “Smithereens”. Outstanding.
“Mental Surgery” leaves you feeling like you’ve been left in a concrete mixer overnight. Although the album has only eight songs, each of them encase strong structures, melodies and a mountainous amount of insanity that will leave you temporarily blind..
Great debut which is still on top of my playlist. Another great metal band of the land of Gorefest, Aphyx, Textures, Legion of the Damned and God Dethroned..

Hallo, mijn ogen! Voor me ligt een zeer mooi afgewerkt plaatje, volledig zelf bekostigd. Inflatie my ass zullen ze gedacht hebben in Groningen. Grapje natuurlijk, deze mannen laten gewoon absoluut niets aan het toeval over om er voor te zorgen om niet voor tweederangs aangezien te worden omdat ze momenteel labelloos zijn. Het wordt mij ook allemaal bijzonder makkelijk gemaakt met het bijhorende propagandamateriaal, professioneel en volgens de regels van de kunst. En dan nu de muziek.
Deze heren en vrouw die jullie mogelijks nog kennen van Instil, Escadron en Toxocara, brengen zoals ze zelf ook al komen te zeggen moderne death en agressieve thrash in mengvorm. Van de ganse resem bands die ze opnoemen kan ik vooral God Dethroned (de composities), Darkane (het tempo) en The Absence (de sound) bevestigen. Doch, er is een andere naam die me regelmatig in gedachten springt, het Franse No Return (zonder blieps dan). De death metal is fraai en modern op zijn Aborted’s, en bij wijze van gastbijdrage doet Henri Sattler vocaal zijn spreekwoordelijke duit in het zakje. Mental Surgery is een bovengemiddeld goed album geworden, met een frisse thrash-look en dito snelheid. De songs hebben allen een eigen invulling en plaats binnen het concept van dit album. Dat concept mag er trouwens best zijn. Ik ga niet teveel verklappen wat er achter zit, maar de operatiezaal en de rotte maatschappij zitten er voor iets tussen.
Een frisse nieuwe wind die potten gaat breken. Nog iets meer de sterktes in de verf zetten (nog meer soli en melodieën, meer de vele toonverschillen accentueren en een nog straffere drumsound voor de prima ritmesectie) en het talent van deze band zal helemaal boven komen drijven. Voor een debuut is dit zeker niet mis, getuige ook de 1000 enkelingen die dit album in de eerste week dat het album beschikbaar was de download gepleegd hebben en waarvan bepaalden onder hen daarna de bestelling ingezet hebben. Wordt inderdaad vervolgd.

Finally I have the chance to listen to Murder Manifest! I ’ve read many good words about this band on the internet, and I was really interested to listen to what that band was about!! And it’s just about sick and brutal Death Fucking Metal the way I love it, Brutal tracks of killing Metal with putrid Death riffs, reminding of course of BOLT THROWER, HATE ETERNAL and MORBID ANGEL, drums that will leave you beaten and broken, different kind of brutal vokillz and everything you’re looking for if you love this brutal as fuck Death worshipping Metal!!! I especially dig the vokills from Murder Manifest, they sound if they were recorded in my asshole!!
Now that I listened to these killer tracks from Murder ManifestI understand why I read all those great words about this band before!! Murder Manifest kills! I also love the packaging of this little fucker, it really fits the brutal musick from Murder Manifest! The production is awesome, you can hear every fucking shit, but it still keeps the raw feeling that a Death metal production needs, fucking well done. I love this band, and if you call yourself a death metal fan you should check this band out! BUY OR BE GAY!!!!
